For Students: Artist's Statement

Hello my name is Alfredo Escamilla, and I have a passion towards graphic design. I got into the idea of graphic design when I saw flyers for bands and I thought it would be cool to do that. I do some drawing on my walls but get limited by the man, then I got limited with my options because I did not have the programs, then I got introduced to photoshop and it was like listening to the beatles for the first time. I thought that it would be fun and I was right. My inspiration come from the things around, what I see, what I live. With out inspiration it is like life with out air. With the more experience I get the better my skills will become. My family, teachers, friends, and Media-Xperiments all are going to help me and be guides for me. With these things I know that I can get better at my skill. I can’t do very talented things but the one thing I am good at is graphic design and I will prove it by being the best of the best. I will make my own company one day for Latinos who are interested in graphic design like me but not only limit it to Latinos but for everyone, team work is important so that should help.

Socratic Method

What is the Socratic Method?
The Socratic Method is a form of inquiry and debate between people with opposing points of view based on asking and answering question to help you thing and come up with ideas. So pretty much you ask someone a question and they will answer you in another question, and it's up to you to answer it yourself.

2nd day of SXSW

It was a big day today, I won an Itouch at the screenburn at SXSW. Saw some people talk about what they did. I also went to the trade show, there were some pretty cool booths and I got some business cards. It was a fun day.

AMS Industry Tour

On February 10,2010 a few students and myself went to AMS in Austin and we got to get a first hand experience of what they do. They gave us a tour of where they work and what they do. They help clients with anything from Commercial ads to Documentaries, they even have a set for live new covereges. They had a work shop there and they gave us a chance to work with them.
