Jay Electronica

I was first impressed with listening to him rhyme over the soundtrack of Eternal Sunshine of A Spotless Mind.His monotone yet musical voice sets the rhythm for the track, there are no drums, yet it is lush, rhythmic and worth being on repeat. I think he is pushing the boundaries of the integration of words mixed with music.

Process for Jay Electronica

I’m still looking for the photographer who owns this picture. in the mean time…
1. I cleared the background in photoshop.
2. Printed the black and white image and added flourishes with graphite( a drafting pencil.)
3. I wanted extra depth and further abstraction, so I set up my lights and took a picture the image through a scratched up head light cover that i found when riding my bike.
4. I put it back in photoshop blended 3 images and colored ‘em.

My paintings are translations of the soul I see reflected in the rich cultures of the world. I accepted visual arts as my life’s work in order to universally communicate my perspective of subjects I have studied and my beliefs and experiences that shape my worldview. My worldview, inspiration for my paintings, is deeply rooted in a subject’s truth—revealed once the layers are pulled back.
