For Students: Artist's Statement

When it comes to writing there are journalistic standards I set out to reach in every article I write standards such as providing the reader with information, entertainment, accuracy, and objectivity.

As a sports writer, I recognize these things as being important but, I want to capture the agony of defeat and the invigorating feeling of success in my articles.

I am essentially the historian for athletic endeavors at my school something I take extreme pride in.

Style and techniques tend to vary for me as I see fit because I search for where the story is if one particular player is greater in value compared to others I try to find what makes them tick what drives them the same thing applies if a team dynamic is at work.

In my experience as a writer and a sports fan I’ve learned how the success of a team can change, if not reflect the morale of large groups of people.

For example the Super bowl Champions the New Orleans saints had a healing effect on their town simply by winning.

My goal is to write a story like that for a journalism entity because stories like that contain substance.
